Transformation of commercial vehicles for CEP couriers

Transformation of commercial vehicles for express couriers (CEP), forwarders and street seller's vans

Transformation of commercial vehicles, with dedicated validation, inclusive of partition with sliding door, foldable shelving system and burglar-proof access to the loading compartment.

The transformation solutions for commercial vehicles used for CEP (courier, express, parcel) services designed and manufactured by Store Van are the ideal solution to transport goods in a safe, practical and fast way, thanks to the optimal and flexible use of space.

To ensure the utmost work safety, we offer the vehicle transformation for CEP service, which includes a partition with sliding door, burglar-proof access to the loading compartment and foldable shelving system with up to 80 kg load-bearing capacity per linear metre.

Alternatively, the Light Shelf fit-out is available, a solution with foldable shelving system designed for those who want an efficient and functional fit-out, without the need for structural modifications to the vehicle.

FEATURES OF THE COMMERCIAL VEHICLE TRANSFORMATION:

Foldable shelving system

The foldable shelving system is a flexible component that maximises load space management in the van compartment. Depending on the type and volume of material to be loaded, they can be used open or closed. These solutions are characterised by:
  • Foldable shelving system with up to 80 kg load-bearing capacity per linear metre and cushioned opening by means of gas springs. Adaptable to the customer’s needs up to a length of 4,000 mm and a depth of 600 mm in a single piece;
  • Can be supplied with non-slip mat, front edge with increased friction and 200 mm-high metal dividers tested by TÜV for withstanding loads of 100 kg each in case of emergency braking;
  • Steel tube uprights folded to match the vehicle’s contour, maximising the full depth of the shelves without obstructing the passage through the central corridor;
  • Screw fastening system to transfer the shelving to a new vehicle without altering the structure’s integrity.

Partition wall

The partition wall is a solution designed to ensure safety, reliability and quality. Thanks to the optimal and flexible use of space, it provides direct and secure access to the loading area from the driver’s cab. The partition system includes:
  • Panels made of phenolic coated and laminated grey plywood, pre-shaped and perforated for assembly;
  • Steel fixing and retention bars that anchor the chassis to the wall and connect to the main structural elements of the vehicle, reinforcing the key points;
  • Foldable passenger seat complete with head restraint fixed to the partition wall (note: requires vehicle re-registration);
  • Mechanical locking system with security key on sliding door and handle for opening and closing. Option to implement electronic lock with numeric keypad;
  • Driver’s cab flooring made of shaped aluminium chequer plate;
  • Headliner with new shape to fit the partition wall;
  • Option to position the door lock in a non-accessible location.

SAFETY ACCESS TO CARGO SPACE

Access to the loading compartment can be managed and regulated with dedicated security locks for maximum protection of transported goods. In particular, it features:
  • Locking system with three security levels: mechanical key lock, electronic lock with numerical code keypad and memory of the last 1,000 events, lock with additional remote control;
  • Driver’s cab opening by means of ergonomic handle with built-in lock, option for light sensor application.

Certifications

Store Van can thoroughly and reliably install its sliding door partition bulkhead, attested by the issuing of a COC certificate for the vehicle’s conversion. Store Van is one of the few in Europe having obtained all the required certifications and conducted tests for supplying and installing this product. In order to comply with homologation requirements, the following tests have been carried out by an authorised institution:
  • Test according to ECE R14 Regulation concerning seat belt anchorage in driving cab (OE driver seat / Fami passenger seat; SIMULTANEOUS test conducted on a bodywork);
  • Crash test for seat belts according to ECE R16 Regulation;
  • Energy absorption test of the Fami head restraint fixed to the bulkhead, as required by ECE R25 Regulation, as provided for N1-Category vehicles;
  • Complete test to verify cargo restraint systems in accordance with ISO 27956:2009 as per Regulation 2018/858.

FAQ
1 - What is van racking for CEP couriers?

Van racking for CEP (Courier – Express – Parcel) couriers is a van fit-out designed and engineered for those who need to transport parcels and goods on a daily basis. Every element installed in the loading compartment aims to improve organisation and delivery management.

The van fit-out consists of a loading compartment organised with high-capacity foldable shelving system that can be opened or closed depending on the material to be transported. Access to the rear of the van can be via the rear or side doors, or directly from the driver’s cab thanks to the partition wall with security lock.

Modifying the van partition is a highly advantageous intervention in several respects, improving the speed, safety and comfort of daily operations:

  1. Direct access to the loading compartment: the intervention does not compromise the structural integrity of the vehicle and saves time by allowing the driver to reach the parcels without having to exit the vehicle. This system is particularly effective for frequent deliveries or in urban environments where stops are numerous and close together;
  2. Increased safety and ergonomics: entering the loading compartment from inside the vehicle reduces the courier’s exposure to road traffic, avoiding risky roadside manoeuvres. At the same time, it also improves work ergonomics: it reduces physical stress caused by constant getting in and out and prevents injuries related to incorrect postures or repetitive strain.
  1. High level of organisation in the loading compartment;
  2. Greater protection of transported goods;
  3. Increased safety during transport and loading/unloading operations.

Vehicle re-registration is required when structural modifications are made, such as replacing chassis elements with the upper crossbar, or whenever a jump seat is installed in place of the front passenger seat.
